I think to be as knowledgeable as possible, the SWEO IG should be aware of what's out there already, and if that means a separate area (to avoid any accusations of unfair promotion) for talking about what pet projects people are involved in (or a set of wiki pages), then that should probably be done. If we have to be able to show specific existing demonstrators for outreach - they will be industry or academic projects - then some linking to / mentioning of them is necessary (but should certainly be limited on the public mailing list). > re blogger outreach: I think many (if not all) convincing > demos can be done with already deployed vocabs such as DC, > FOAF, RSS, ANNOTEA, and maybe Danny's IBIS. The purpose of this thread really was to illustrate how we could explain SW benefits to others outside this group (with the example of how SIOC is already attempting to enhance Web 2.0 areas such as the blogosphere). It'd be great to have more demonstrators as you mentioned, even though you may prefer not to use SIOC. I'll be quiet now, I'm not even officially a member representative of the IG! Happy Christmas everyone... J. -- Dr. John Breslin DERI, NUI Galway http://sw.deri.org/~jbreslin/ john.breslin@deri.org
