I'm a research associate at the CCLRC Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, in the e-Science department. I was a participant in the Semantic Web Best Practices and Deployment Working Group, co-editing the SKOS Working Drafts [1,2,3] and the "Cookbook" for publishing RDF [4]. I've been involved in several projects, including Semantic Web Advanced Development for Europe (SWAD-Europe [5]) where I led the "Thesaurus Activity" [6]. I have an MA (Natural Sciences) from Cambridge University and an MSc (Web Technologies) from Oxford Brookes University (hopefully - results are out next month!), for which I recently published a dissertation on information retrieval using controlled vocabularies [7]. I am participating in the Semantic Web Deployment Working Group to help develop SKOS towards a genuinely useful and applicable Recommendation; and to continue the work on providing guidance on practical Semantic Web vocabulary management issues.
