Hi all, I met with Alan K. Melby (delegate to ISO/TC 37 and TMF/LMF workshop leader) and Laurent Romary (chair of ISO/TC 37/SC 4) at the Berlin Open Forum on Metadata Registries last month, and had a brief discussion about areas of potential overlap. >From what I know so far, the terminology community and especially the translation industry have core business cases that could exploit RDF as an enabling technology. Both the SKOS Core and Wordnet metamodels are in this domain, and development of these specifications could greatly benefit from related work ongoing in TC 37 & especially SC 4. In particular, the Terminology Markup Framework (TMF, ISO 16642) provides an underlying metamodel for designing XML terminology formats, see: http://www.loria.fr/projets/TMF/ Some brief details about ISO/TC 37: Title: Terminology and other language resources Scope: Standardization of principles, methods and applications relating to terminology and other language and content resources in the contexts of multilingual communication and cultural diversity.
