Apologies for lateness of this message. On Friday 9th I attended the XML Schema WG call. The minutes are at: http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Member/w3c-xml-schema-ig/2004Jul/att-0076/XML_Schema_WG_--_12_Jul_2004.html#item08 The conversation centred around the two substantive issues: User defined datatypes ====================== I agreed that we would review their latest work on SCD, which may address the need for uris for user defined datatypes. http://www.w3.org/XML/Group/2004/07/WD-xmlschema-ref-20040708/ (member only link) http://www.w3.org/TR/2004/WD-xmlschema-ref-20040309/ (last public version) Value Space Comparisons ======================= They were clear that this overlapped with the work of XQuery and others. In particular the Functions and Operators work. http://www.w3.org/XML/Group/xsl-query-specs/xquery-operators/xpath-functions.html (Member only link?) http://www.w3.org/TR/2003/WD-xpath-functions-20031112/ (last public version) On process they felt that it important that we also invite the XQuery people who have work on F&O to participate as well. There was some enthusiasm for assigning XML Schema WG participants to the TF immediately, but overall they wanted to see that we had done the review work first. Hence, at this weeks telecon (for which I think I may need to send regrets) it would be good if some participants in the task force can take the action to review these two documents: http://www.w3.org/XML/Group/2004/07/WD-xmlschema-ref-20040708/ http://www.w3.org/XML/Group/xsl-query-specs/xquery-operators/xpath-functions.html I will take an action to review both, and I am happy to make the first pass, to identify the crucial sections relevant to us. I will also be happy to take an action to contact the F&O people. We may also wish to discuss the impact of the status of these docs. The first is a WD, the second is in Last Call. Jeremy
