I was asked to provide pointers to the text(s) of the Topic Maps standard. Here they are: (1) Original text of ISO 13250:2000 http://www.y12.doe.gov/sgml/sc34/document/0129.pdf Based on SGML + HyTime. Be warned: Not very readable! (2) XML Topic Maps specification (2001) http://www.topicmaps.org/xtm/1.0/ More readable XML version developed by TopicMaps.Org. XML DTD (Annex D) subsequently incorporated into the standard as ISO 13250:2003. (3) Revised text of ISO 13250 (Committee Drafts) a) Part 2 -- Data Model (TMDM): http://www.isotopicmaps.org/sam/sam-model/ b) Part 3 -- XML Syntax (XTM): http://www.isotopicmaps.org/sam/sam-xtm/ c) Part 4 -- Canonicalization (CXTM): http://www.isotopicmaps.org/sam/cxtm/ Parts 1 and 5 of the revised 13250 have not yet reached Committee Draft stage and are thus not representative of the committee as a whole. My personal recommendations for those that don't want to read all five documents: Start with (2). Read (3a) and (3b) if you really need to know the details. Read (3c) if you are particularly interested in how we intend to do conformance testing. Read (1) if you are a historian or a masochist :-) For completeness, here are pointers to two standards that complement ISO 13250: (4) Topic Maps Query Language (TMQL) http://www.isotopicmaps.org/tmql/ (5) Topic Maps Constraint Language (TMCL) http://www.isotopicmaps.org/tmcl/ Steve -- Steve Pepper <pepper@ontopia.net> Chief Strategy Officer, Ontopia Convenor, ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 34/WG 3 Editor, XTM (XML Topic Maps 1.0)
