I think it would be nice to support this, although I think it's not critical. On the glyph definition side, I think we would obviously want to use CSS Variables to handle the parameter referencing, but how values would be passed in I'm not sure. This support is not critical, but it would go a long way to showing the value of SVG in OpenType for digital publishing. Making something like this: http://www.photolettering.com/a/j3hgec0a possible in one font file —rather than only being available as a web service and being built with eight different OpenType fonts— is a rather big plus to type foundries.
