I shall go ahead this Tuesday morning (Pacific Time) and point the OT and OFF lists to this status update.

Folks,

Attached is an OT/OFF spec draft for your review. (I believe attachments are allowed on this list.)

The only major change from what we've been discussing is that it introduces compression. There are other minor tweaks as well e.g. the element id pattern is "glyph<glyphID>" instead of "g<glyphID>" for explicitness and readability. Hopefully this will minimize conflict with the ways existing SVG tools output content.

No changes to the SVG specification are required by this draft.

It doesn't address custom fill. I'd like to start discussing that next on this list since it will be a compelling aspect of this technology, especially if extended to multiple fills, e.g. a color-by-numbers scheme (see http://www.photolettering.com/ for some inspiration).

Since it will take a bit to figure out what we can do for custom fill, I'd like to pass the above draft by the OT and OFF lists as a sort of status update. The introduction clearly states that we're working on custom fill and that this draft may be extended to allow for that.

Thanks,
Sairus
