SVG 2 and its Mercurial repositories

Hi WG,

This is a quick email to get everyone up to speed on where we are regarding
starting SVG 2.

Important summary of F2F discussion
-----------------------------------

We'll be using Mercurial to manage the SVG 2 repositories, and staging via
svgwg.org/hg for the time being.

Before anyone does anything else - before you even install Mercurial - please
fully read the (short!) "Configuring Mercurial" section on this page:

   http://www.w3.org/Graphics/SVG/WG/wiki/Mercurial

Create your config file before you do anything else - before you even continue
reading this. It takes less than a minute, and frustrating things are likely to
happen to you later if you don't.

Next read this (short!) page from top to bottom (maybe skimming the Hooks
section once you get the idea):

   http://www.w3.org/Graphics/SVG/WG/wiki/Svgwg.org

*Everyone* should have read these two pages since they explain the foundational
stuff you need to know/do.

Status
------

The current status of the repositories at svgwg.org/hg is that I've imported the
SVG 1.1 2nd Edition files, minus generated files and old files that were no
longer needed. I changed the build system so that ALL generated files (including
the old publish directory) are created in a 'build' directory beside 'master',
so they're no longer stored in the repository. This keeps the repository light,
but yes, it does raise some questions that we'll have to work out as we go
forward. We can discuss that in this or another thread.

Getting started
---------------

See http://www.w3.org/Graphics/SVG/WG/wiki/Svgwg.org

Then it's just "ask questions", I guess. :)

Regards,
Jonathan
