this is the most accessible charting engine

doug: ... W3C SVG accessibility and staff contact,, doing SVG since
2000/2001, experimental screen reader

ami: data Visualizations tools team, - using SVG

tav: inkscape interested in accessibility and connectors

Jason: : educational testing, long history in W3C, very long history with
SVG, especially for education applications

<richardschwerdtfeger>
http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-svg-a11y/2014Dec/0004.html

Rich: reviewing agenda - Scope of work and why, new ground for a11y
... why taxonomy - avoids duplication, have not done on graphics before
... also needs to look at navigation

doug: tradeoff of pragmatics of what is working today vs where we need to
go - SVG tiny not well acceptable - moz not doing focusable
... need focusable in SVG 2

fred, doug, rich: discussion on focus

fred, doug, rich: discuss: forcus/ aria-activedesendent and scope of focus

doug: need to understand how focus works in HTML 5 and may need to extend
for SVG as apposed to activedecsendent

<richardschwerdtfeger>
http://rawgit.com/w3c/aria/master/core-aam/core-aam.html

rich: for HTML 5 and SVG we are taking aria core API mappings map to
platform

<richardschwerdtfeger>
http://rawgit.com/w3c/aria/master/accname-aam/accname-aam.html

<richardschwerdtfeger> SVG2 Accessibility API Mappings specification:

<richardschwerdtfeger>
http://rawgit.com/w3c/aria/master/svg-aam/svg-aam.html

rich: review of accessible name computation
... review of SVG2 accessibility API
... we may need to extend API on platforms, but warning - that makes the
time longer

doug: want to avoid extending platform API - if we can
... rich mentioned this may work for canvas as well, doug wants to be as
generic as possible

rich: authoring practices - may be well ahead of STEM, where is the best
place for authoring practices?

doug: maybe authoring practices, examples on webPlatform.org

fesch: i believe we need to create tools for examples

doug: argees, sample tools help

s/agrees/agrees

doug: things grouping is not going to be the challenge

fesch: inkscape might be a good place to add tools

rich: will have to test with ATs

doug: should look at mitigation strategies, like shims/shadow DOMs

Jason: what drive a11y API improvements is ARIA

rich: we have PF members here, should review SVG related docs - ie
connector spec
... where we are today - SVG2 a11y features, tab index, WIA-ARIA taxonomy

<shepazu> Steve Faulkner's SVG ARIA mapping draft
https://specs.webplatform.org/SVG1.1-ARIA/webspecs/master/
