Hi everyone, I hope you know that the W3C Web of Things workshop will take place next week - W3C Workshop on the Web of Things Enablers and services for an open Web of Devices 25-26 June 2014, Berlin, Germany http://www.w3.org/2014/02/wot/Overview.html Regrets of not being there but I hope to join the conversations (IRC, twitter) somewhat. Luckily, there will be enough people there to explain what's SSN and discuss its future (see below). I want to raise your attention on 5 points: 1) You should check Libby Miller's very good W3C Web of Things workshop submissions summary This is a quite thorough analysis and is available here: http://planb.nicecupoftea.org/2014/06/19/w3c-web-of-things-workshop-submissions-summary/ 2) Future of SSN :) In case you have not noticed, the workshop will be a good place to discuss the future of SSN. Phil Archer should have the latest on the proposal done in the wake of Linking Geospatial Workshop (#lgd14) to form a new working group as part of the Data activity (see also http://www.w3.org/2014/02/wot/papers/archer.pdf ). There was also a discussion at #INSPIRE_EU2014 about it. 3) ISO/IEC/IEEE P21451-1-4 XEP IoT EXTENSIONS But, I have not seen anyone discussing the work on the Semantic extensions to XMPP in their position papers for the workshop I'd like to know if there someone who intend to present it. If not, can I ask for a volunteer to bring it to the table during the workshop? I have started a wiki page here with what I know about it: https://www.w3.org/community/ssn-cg/wiki/WOT_workshop Please comment here if you are more in the know than I am (I have CC'ed sensei-iot@gmail.com<mailto:sensei-iot@gmail.com> and Peter Waher to check if someone will be there). Please bring to the workshop whatever information you have on what's happening outside W3C which you think is important. One of the main objectives of such workshops is to have an accurate and complete picture of what's going on. Don't be shy - share it if no one else does (orally and/or via the IRC - feel free to add a link when someone talks too quickly about something - this will help the writer of the workshop reports). 4) Share information before the workshop if possible with your SSN peers The workshop has to cover a lot of ground in only two days. You can help Phil Archer and Jörg Heuer to make it more successful by spending a bit of time to sync your contribution with other SSN Community Group members. Do share what they plan to talk about at the workshop via the mailing list and/or via the Workshop wiki page I have set up. 5) It is possible to follow the workshop remotely via IRC, generally the information about IRC is available via the workshop page + twitter (Phil Archer) and probably the WoT CG mailing list During #lgd14, I have used both the IRC and twitter to follow what happened. If you are present at the workshop, please let Phil Archer know if you want to volunteer as a scribe on IRC to share the load. If you are rusty, check http://www.w3.org/wiki/IRC or http://www.w3.org/2009/CommonScribe/manual.html Thanks in advance and my best wishes for a productive workshop from Canberra. Laurent
