Dear Advisory Committee Representative,
Chairs,

I am pleased to appoint Ann Bassetti (Boeing Company) as the new chair to
the Social Interest Group [1].

Ann Bassetti replaces Mark Crawford (SAP), who stepped down as chair of
the IG.

Ann has a long standing presence in the W3C, serving on the Advisory
Board, and an active participant in the workshop that led to the
establishment of the Interest Group [2]. Together with the Social Web
Working Group [3], the Social Interest Group will continue to work on
use-cases, vocabularies, and messaging around the next generation of
social standards.

We would like to express our thanks to Mark, who was instrumental in
starting the Interest Group, and welcome Ann in her new role.

This announcement follows section 6.1 of the W3C Process [4].
