In every SML model there are two distinguished subsets of the model's
documents, the definition documents and the instance documents. The model's
definition documents describe the abstract structure of the model, and provide
much of the information a model validator needs to decide whether the model as
a whole is valid. The model's instance documents describe or support the
description of the individual resources the model portrays.
