Re: AGENDA and Surveys - AGWG Meeting May 3rd 2022, Chartering Conversation survey added

Hello all,

We received some questions over the weekend, so I am providing a bit more context for the Chartering survey. The possibility of breaking into two groups has come up in recent weeks and we want to address it with the whole group.

This survey is a start to that conversation. We have learned that the most productive way to approach this type of conversation is to:

  1. clearly define the options, and then
  2. discuss which option to pursue.

This survey is to clearly define the options. We will have future conversations about which one to pursue, once the options are clearly defined. There is no perfect solution. Each approach has pluses and minuses and we expect a robust conversation once the options are defined.

For this step (defining the options), please step back from your personal preference and help us identify what each would look like.

If you have weighed in about your preferences on the survey, please consider removing them so we can get through step 1 (defining the options) quickly.

The survey provides the draft proposed charter text for a single group and for two groups. A short summary of the differences is below.

One Group Charter

  *   WCAG 3
  *   W3C Decision Policy
  *   Minimal WCAG 2 maintenance
  *   WCAG2ICT
  *   All taskforce work

Two Group, WCAG 2 Charter

  *   WCAC 2 final
  *   AG Decision Policy
  *   Extensive WCAG 2 maintenance
  *   WCAG 2 support materials
  *   WCAG2ICT
  *   ACT work

Two Group, WCAG 3 Charter

  *   WCAG 3
  *   W3C Decision Policy
  * COGA, low vision, and mobile work

Kind regards,

Rachael
