Here is background on my comment that the “Goal” of Silver should be something akin to “provide an incremental, and holistic, framework for continuous improvement” (maybe as defined by ISO 9001). When I was performing Lean Transformation, and Quality Assurance for the Air Force from 2003 – 2009 we each certified in Six Sigma, and Lean Transformation, individually, and ISO (International Standards Organization) 9001, collectively as an organization, or entity. They all go together. Lean is about maximizing efficiency, eliminating waste, and streamlining. Six Sigma is defect management. ISO 9001 is systematically integrating these approaches into one conformance model. See below: ISO 9001:2015 specifies requirements for a quality management system when an organization: a) needs to demonstrate its ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, and b) aims to enhance customer satisfaction through the effective application of the system, including processes for improvement of the system and the assurance of conformity to customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements. All the requirements of ISO 9001:2015 are generic and are intended to be applicable to any organization, regardless of its type or size, or the products and services it provides. https://www.iso.org/standard/62085.html ISO 9001 is the original quality management standard, and the world’s most widely recognized quality management system. I read somewhere that more than 1 million businesses are ISO 9001 certified. If we were to categorize accessibility, it would easily fit into the category of quality assurance.
