Re: Agenda for Silver Task Force meeting of 23 January 2018

Thanks David,

A bigger update on these student papers for those interested:

The papers are all from an undergraduate final (honours) year module in qualitative research techniques from Robert Gordon University. In the module we covered:
-Designing Qualitative Research Studies
-Creating Academic Papers
-Conducting Interviews
-Conducting Focus Groups
-Ethnographic and Observational Work
-Conversation, Discourse, and Document Analysis
-Analysing Qualitative Data
-Maintaining Quality in Qualitative Research
-The Peer Review Process.

The student assignment was to pick a research question from the entire list of Silver Questions, design a study to help in answering the question, carry out the study, do some basic qualitative analysis of the data collected, and then write this up as an academic paper. Students then took part in a peer review exercise with reviewer questions similar to that at CHI. The class had 50 students in total and the 9 research papers that I passed onto David are the top (A) grade submissions.

I'm happy to make all of the lecture materials available for anyone that is interested in seeing them.

Best Regards

Mike

    Hi all

Apologies for my recent silence. I’ve been on-site with a client the last couple of weeks, and haven’t had time to devote Silver. I’ll be happy to work with whoever else to get the Conformance survey ready to administer.

A research update—Mike Crabb has provided 9 student-authored research papers on web accessibility as output of an undergraduate class assignment he supervised. I can upload them to the Google Drive for everyone to read.

I won’t be at the meeting tomorrow, but I will try to join on Friday.

    Dave
