Getting Started with the SHACL CG

Dear SHACL Community Group members,

with the imminent publication of SHACL as an official Recommendation, it
is a good opportunity for the Community Group to get started.

The W3C has kindly granted us a space on their GitHub account:

     https://github.com/w3c/shacl

I have pre-populated this repository with some documents that were
started by the data shapes WG:

- SHACL Advanced Features (published as WG Note)
- SHACL JavaScript Extensions (published as WG Note)
- SHACL Compact Syntax (not yet published, suggested product of the CG)
- SHACL JSON-LD context

I suggest we use the CG to (among others) continue with the evolution of
these documents as "living specifications" until we feel they have
achieved a level of maturity so that they can be published/updated as CG
Reports. For example there was already some discussion on the future
direction of the JavaScript extensions - the WG note was primarily
intended as a starting point towards a more formal specification in a
couple of years.

If anyone has suggestions/input on other documents, please let me know.
I believe I can also grant editing permissions to other CG members. Also
welcome are co-editors.

In terms of CG logistics, we need a chair. The process suggests that
chairs can be suggested by anyone by clicking the checkboxes at

     https://www.w3.org/community/shacl/participants

I have not participated in a CG before, so maybe others with relevant
experience can help drive this forward. Any volunteers would be greatly
appreciated - please respond if you could serve as a chair.

I also understand that CGs can have weekly/bi-weekly meetings. While W3C
does not provide telecon infrastructure, there are plenty of open tools
for that matter. My personal time zone (Queensland, Australia) may be an
obstacle for me to attend many of these meetings. Having said this, it
is quite possible that the CG will evolve into a cluster of special
interest groups or task forces that meet ad hoc, or collaborate via
emails etc.

With this I hope I have helped to get the ball rolling - as a community
effort the outcomes of this CG depend on individual contributions.

Regards
Holger
