*Research Assistant/Doctoral Student in the area of Human Computer Interaction and Semantic Web (with possible emphasis in Natural Language Processing)* The Dynamic and Distributed Information Systems Group at the Department of Informatics of the University of Zurich announces a funded research doctoral-student position in the areas of human computer interaction and the Semantic Web (with a possible emphasis in Natural Language Processing) starting as soon as possible. The position is for a period of 3 years (with the possibility of an extension to the end of the thesis) and requires a recent university study in informatics, computer science, computational linguistics, computer visualisitics, or a related field. The successful applicant will be responsible for collaborating in a larger research team consisting of the Dynamic and Distributed Information Systems Group (DDIS). We are interested particularly in Natural Language Interfaces to Semantic Web Knowledge Bases, Human Computer Interaction in Querying Tasks, and Usability Studies. The group is active in International and Swiss National research projects and we are looking for the candidate to help us continue these efforts. The successful candidate will have: * a master degree in informatics, computer science or computational linguistics (or an equivalent university study) * expertise in human computer interaction, Semantic Web, and/or natural language processing * interest in natural language interfaces, human computer interaction and Semantic Web * good command of English * some ability to at least speak German would be preferable but is not necessary Closing date for applications: May 7, 2007 (but may close earlier, as applications will be considered on a rolling basis!)
