Our scientists work collaboratively with basic and clinical researchers, providing analytical and interpretative expertise to enable or validate discoveries with high impact on patient care. BSI also leads in the development of statistical and informatics methodologies to provide novel approaches to analyze biomedical data. The Mayo Clinic Center for the Science of Healthcare Delivery (http://mayoresearch.mayo.edu/mayo/research/science-of-health-care-delivery) has created an infrastructure to support health services research that translates into a way of delivering health care to patients that add value. The Clinical Informatics Program (CLIP) seeks to support the transformation of health care delivery through a standardized approach to cohort identification, phenotype definition, development of clinical registries and enhancing the data mining techniques and methodology. The program has a 3 year operational plan to leverage existing resources and expertise to achieve a robust platform for clinical informatics that is also agnostic to electronic health record software applications.
