Job: NCBO Community Manager

The National Center for Biomedical Ontology (NCBO) at Stanford University
is seeking a person to grow, manage, and nurture our large user community
of life scientists, biomedical informatics researchers, and Healthcare IT
professionals. The successful candidate will: 

 

- Educate potential and actual end users about uses of the Center's
technology

- Employ all modes of communication to engage with our user community,
including in-person meetings, email, teleconferences, webinars, and social
media

- Promote the NCBO's activities at national and international meetings by
presenting talks and tutorials and by meeting with individual
investigators

- Provide feedback to the NCBO software-development team regarding new
functionality and observed problems with the Center's technology

- Monitor the progress of collaborating initiatives affiliated with the
Center, and serve as a primary liaison between our collaborators and core
NCBO personnel

- Assist outside investigators who are seeking ways to collaborate with
the Center

 

Required qualifications:

- Broad knowledge of biomedical informatics

- Ability to travel globally 25% time to conferences, research meetings,
and laboratories

- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills

- Excellent organizational skills

- Master's degree in a scientific discipline 

 

Desired qualifications:

- Knowledge of ontologies and their applications to biomedicine

- Master's degree in clinical informatics or bioinformatics

- Doctorate in a scientific discipline 

- Knowledge of federal funding procedures for biomedical investigation
