mission of making the world a healthier place.

*Role Description*

Manager, Research Business Technology (RBT), is a key liaison for the
scientific community at Pfizer’s Rinat site as well as the Center for
Therapeutic Innovation (CTI) in San Francisco. This Leader ensures that the
investments in technology services and solutions have maximum impact on the
portfolio of R&D products in the San Francisco area. It is expected that
this role will work with the West Coast Business Technology team, research
leaders, scientists, service providers, application specialists,
bioinformaticians, and site and global R&D BT colleagues.

The person in this role is responsible for leading a technical team of 2-3
people responsible for solutions delivery, application support and
laboratory workflow enablement.

This Manager role will also be expected to contribute to the successful
execution of BT projects in a technical capacity, such as project
management, business analysis, system configuration, user training, and
solution development.

*Responsibilities*

Business Partner responsibilities:
• Partner with Rinat and CTI scientists to understand their challenges and
proactively identify ways information technology can contribute
• Develop a BT solutions roadmap aligned with the research strategy and
broader company and industry trends
• Build and manage relationships with key stakeholders at multiple levels
in the organization and manage expectations as needed
• Liaison to Rinat’s leadership teams, contributing both general leadership
and deep expertise in informatics and the external solution landscape

Manager, Research BT - manage a team of 2-3 technology experts with a mix
of scientific & technical skills to deliver :
• Application of Research BT solutions to improve scientific workflows
• Training for informatics tools
• Projects in laboratory automation
• Data analysis, data management and visualization
• Solutions to enable computational analysis
• Delivery of technical solutions

Technical Contributor
• Given the smaller size of the BT staff at the two San Francisco
locations, it is expected that the manager would also be spending perhaps
up to half their time as a technical contributor to projects.

*Qualifications*

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelors or Masters Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or
similar technical field.
Complementary degree/major in Biology or Bioinformatics is a strong plus.

TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
The candidate should have strong technical skills in most aspects of
solution delivery in a research environment, such as data analysis,
relational database concepts/design, solution design, software development,
business analysis, software evaluation/configuration, workflow
automation/scripting, system support, documentation, and training. Our
customers are Pfizer’s own research scientists. The successful candidate
will have enough knowledge of biology and pharmaceutical research (through
education and/or career experience) to be able to understand the
scientists’ vocabulary and translate their needs into solutions.
This role requires superior interpersonal and relationship-building skills;
the ability to interact with a wide variety of scientists (from lab
technicians to scientific leaders) and BT colleagues. The ability to move
easily between high level directional discussions with business leaders and
low level technical problem-solving is a must.

PHYSICAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Basic office environment.

Pfizer is committed to equal opportunity in the terms and conditions of
employment for all employees and job applicants without regard to race,
color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, age, gender identity or gender
expression, national origin, disability or veteran status. Pfizer also
complies with all applicable national, state and local laws governing
nondiscrimination in employment as well as employment eligibility
verification requirements of the Immigration and Nationality Act. All
applicants must have authorization to work for Pfizer in the U.S. In
certain circumstances it may be advantageous to Pfizer to support the
application(s) for temporary visa classification and/or sponsor
applications for permanent residence so that a foreign national colleague
can accept or remain in a work assignment in the U. S. For certain classes
of temporary visas, the resulting work authorization may be specific to
Pfizer and the specific job and/or work site. Pfizer may at its business
discretion decide to or refrain from obtaining, maintaining and/or
extending the temporary visa status and/or sponsoring a colleague for
permanent residency and /or employment eligibility, considering factors
such as availability of qualified U.S. workers and the colleague's
long-term prospects for securing lawful permanent residence, among other
reasons. Employment applicants requiring immigration sponsorship must
disclose, when initial application for employment is made, whether or not
they are legally authorized to work for Pfizer in the U.S. and, if so,
whether that authorization permits them to work in the job they seek. In
no case should Pfizer's support of a colleague's temporary visa
application or sponsorship of a colleague for permanent residence be
construed to guarantee success of that application or amend or otherwise
invalidate the "at-will" employment relationship between the colleague and
Pfizer.
