Dear Sci Discourse participants, A reminder to dial in for this week's concall (note corrected date below). Sudeshna Das is our featured discussant and will put forward an integration approach for discourse and experiments using the SAAGE project as a testbed, and will be recruiting colleagues to participate in building a first-pass integrated ontology. This is an opportunity for people interested in the practice of constructing ontologies "very close to the ground", that is, rooted in direct requirements and activities of practicing biologists and using a minimalist "agile" approach. Next call (March 20) John Madden from Duke University, who chairs the HCLS Terminology task, will talk to us about SKOS and terminology. There has been a lot of discussion about terminologies versus ontologies, what they are each good for, and how to use them judiciously. This will be a great opportunity to weigh in this topic. SWAN/SIOC supports integration of SKOS terminologies and we will discuss use cases for various kinds of terminologies, setting up terminology libraries etc. Best Tim Conference Details • Date of Call: Friday March 6, 2009 • Time of Call: 11:00am Eastern Time • Dial-In #: +1.617.761.6200 (Cambridge, MA) • Dial-In #: +33.4.89.06.34.99 (Nice, France) • Dial-In #: +44.117.370.6152 (Bristol, UK) • Participant Access Code: 4257 ("HCLS") • IRC Channel: irc.w3.org port 6665 channel #HCLS (see W3C IRC page for details, or see Web IRC) • Duration: ~1 hour • Convener: Tim Clark • Scribe: Susie Stephens Agenda • SWAN/SIOC integration with Experiments via SAAGE project: Sudeshna Das • SWAN/SIOC integration with Lilly Experiment ontology, status update: Susie Stephens • SWAN/SIOC IG note update: Alex Passant & Paolo Ciccarese • upcoming discussion on SKOS (preview): Tim Clark
