Scientific Discourse Task Status - July 31, 2009

Dear Colleagues,

As we agreed to do at the last call, the SWAN and SIOC IG Notes have  
been reviewed and discussed by several of us on the Task, and  
circulated for comments to Susie and Scott.  Susie has submitted some  
detailed comments (thanks Susie) but Scott is still on vacation (as is  
Paolo).

In order to complete the discussion properly I would like to include  
Scott's comments as well, and publish the revised DRAFTS for final  
discussion when Scott and Paolo have returned from their holidays.

Therefore, it does not make much sense to me to have the next call  
until that point, and I am rescheduling our next call for August 14 at  
the standard time - 11am EDT.

This seems like a long delay but it gives Paolo and Alex the  
opportunity to fully discuss and incorporate all comments.  I am also  
proposing that these revised documents be posted for review no later  
than August 7, so that all the Task Group have an opportunity to see  
them prior to discussion.

We do seem to be moving a bit more slowly in the July-August  
timeframe.  But we are almost there at our first big milestone and  
then we can move ahead to some important new proposals.

Hope everyone is enjoying their summer, and look forward to finishing  
the IG Note discussion on the 14th.
