Hello All! The National Center for Biomedical Ontology is resuming its online Seminar Series on TOMORROW, January 21 at 10am PST. This series aims to showcase new projects, technologies and ideas in biomedical ontology by featuring the work of a different collaborator each session. It is a webinar held online, and as such is open to anyone interested, regardless of location or affiliation. Below is Information on how to join next weekıs online meeting and accompanying teleconference. The seminar, Exploring and Navigating Ontologies through BioPortal, will be presented by Dr. Margaret-Anne Storey, University of Victoria. To see the abstract for this presentation, please visit: http://www.bioontology.org/videos/exploring_ontologies.html For a schedule of 2009 presentations through June, or for more information about the series, please visit the Seminar Series home page: http://www.bioontology.org/seminar_series.html. Information on how to join this weekıs webinar is given below. To receive information on or to join any future meetings, please contact me at skanel@stanford.edu. The sponsoring organization, the National Center for Biomedical Ontology (http://www.bioontology.org), is a consortium of leading biologists, clinicians, informaticians, and ontologists who develop innovative technology and methods allowing scientists to create, disseminate, and manage biomedical information and knowledge in machine-processable form. We hope to see you there. Title: Exploring and Navigating Ontologies through BioPortal Abstract: This seminar will cover ongoing projects at the University of Victoria to improve cognitive support for user navigation of ontologies. As a follow-up to the NCBO's recent project meeting in December at Stanford University, the presenter will demonstrate specific aspects of the visualization tools we have developed for browsing ontologies, for creating ontology mappings and for searching clinical trials. Suggestions and discussion on how these tools could be further improved or tailored to specific needs will be welcome during the presentation.
