National Center for Biomedical Ontology - alpha release of Bioportal

Dear HCLS interest group members,

The NCBO BioPortal Prototype is now available to the community for
testing and feedback (http://alpha.bioontology.org). This prototype
is still in its alpha stages so there will be errors, but any data you
put in will be preserved (based on a daily backup schedule). Please
feel free to test all the features of the application and give
feedback. Because this is a prototype, not all of the ontology
content will be available or will be completely accurate. When an
exception occurs in the application, an email will be automatically
sent so there is no need to email about exceptions. Note that when
you register in the prototype, please use your email as the username.
In that way, our engineers will be able track the issues you may
encounter. Please send all other feedback/issues to
ngriff@stanford.edu. Where possible, be specific when specifying the
feedback (what page, where, how, suggestion for improvement, etc.).

We appreciate all your input and participation in the BioPortal
Prototype Testing.

Currently Known Issues

1) If an ontology does not work in the original bioportal, it will not
work in the prototype.
2) Searching over all ontologies does not work.
3) Searching over attributes or using sounds like does not work.
4) When jumping into the middle of an ontology through a search, It
can take a little bit of time to load
5) When jumping to certain concepts, the tree will not be drawn due to
cycles in the hierarchy

If you have any questions or need more information about the
prototype, please feel free to email Nick Griffith at
ngriff@stanford.edu.

Nigam Shah
