RE: HCLS F2F

Susie,

I propose a small change in the agenda. As some of the tasks have hardly started I believe we need more time to work FtF in the task groups. My proposal is to split the three hour slot on Monday into two, where the two first hours are used for task break out sessions.

Like this:

Monday, October 20

08.30-09.00 - Introductions
09.00-09.45 - Introduction to the Health Care and Life Sciences Interest Group
09.45-10.30 - Data Challenges in Health Care and Life Sciences
10.30-11.00 - Break
11.00-12.00 - Updates from other Semantic Web Groups: Rules Interchange Format, OWL2
12.00-13.00 - Lunch
13.00-15.00 - Task Break Out Sessions: BioRDF, Clinical Observations Interoperability, Linking Open Drug Data, Scientific Discourse, Terminology
15.00-16:00 - Task Updates:
16.00-16.30 - Break
16.30-18.00 - Strategic Plans/Linkages between Tasks

Cheers,
Bosse

Hi Dan,

We'd be more than happy to schedule a joint slot on the Tuesday to discuss
lessons learnt from HCLS. SWIG is also welcome to participate in any of the
other sessions that we are holding, e.g. task force updates.

Cheers,

Susie

FWIW I've just circulated an agenda for the general Semantic Web
Interest Group meeting, which we will be holding. Semi-unfortunately, it
is at the same time as HCLS (we had other clashes to avoid thurs/friday,
sorry).

* http://esw.w3.org/topic/SwigAtTp2008

Although the groups are meeting at the same time, it's good at least to
have everyone in the same place. I know a lot of communities are
starting to look at the HCLS IG effort as a possible role model, when
considering ways of adopting Semantic Web technology. For example, HCLS
is cited in http://www.w3.org/2008/07/ogws-cfp ("W3C Workshop on
Semantic Web in Energy Industries; Part I: Oil & Gas"), also
http://c4i.gmu.edu/OIC08/ ("Ontology for the intelligence community").

So I'm wondering if there might be scope for eg a joint break out
session on the tuesday, to talk about lessons learned etc from the HCLS
experience, with folk from both groups participating?

Either way, the TPAC provides plenty of opportunities for meeting and
talking...

cheers,

Dan
