Greetings, I'm Walt Hultgren, CIO at the Yerkes National Primate Research Center of Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. Yerkes is one of 8 National Primate Research Centers, a program within the National Center for Research Resources of the NIH. As you would suspect, our primary focus is on studies related to nonhuman primates, but given the interdisciplinary and translational nature of much of today's research, IT is often called on to support work involving other species. I'm fairly new to the Semantic Web, but certainly not new to the need to transmit, coalesce and make sense of often dissimilar sets of information. I'm looking forward to the contributions this group can make, not only with novel solutions, but also in integration with existing standards.
