Dear Advisory Committee representative,
[This announcement will be forwarded to W3C group chairs]

W3C is pleased to announce the charter of the Security Interest Group:
https://www.w3.org/2024/11/security-ig-charter.html

The group is chartered through 2026-11-18.

The mission of the Security Interest Group is to improve Security on the
Web by advising groups developing standards on how to avoid and mitigate
security issues with their technologies. Security Interest Group also
suggests changes to existing standards and technologies to improve the
security of existing systems.

The group is designed to bring security researchers and cryptologists
together by reviewing standards and providing advice for a more secure Web.

Please use the following form to have your organization join the group.
The form will also instruct you how to nominate participants:
https://w3.org/groups/ig/security/join

Please consider diversity when proposing people to participate in W3C
groups. Representation from a wider group of people, especially people
from under-represented groups, is vital for creating web standards that
meet the needs of the wider web community.

The group plans to have its first major virtual meeting in December 2024.

The group chairs are Patrick Schaller (ETH Zurich), Denis Roio
(Dyne.org) and Tommaso Innocenti (Invited Expert). The Team Contact is
Simone Onofri, <simone@w3.org>, for a total of 0.25 FTE.

More information about the group can be found on the group home page:
