Dear Advisory Committee Representative,

W3C is pleased to call for participation in:

          W3C Workshop on Smart Cities
          25 June 2021, Virtual Event

The goals of the workshop are:

1. Identify stakeholders of Smart Cities standardization to drive the development of Web standards aligned with the real needs of Smart Cities
2. Clarify reasonable applications for Smart Cities technologies we agree to build
3. and then see how to improve the draft Charter for the potential Smart Cities Interest Group [1] for further discussions within that IG

The event will be organized as a combination of pre-recorded talks (proposals for talks are due 30 April 2021; recorded talks to be submitted by 11 June 2021) followed by a series of live sessions on 25 June.

Possible topics for the workshop may include:

* Summary of the current status of Smart Cities
* Needs for Web-based Smart Cities of the stakeholders including the users, the developers and the governments
* Cross-cutting issues for integration of multiple sub-systems

Attendance is free for all the invited participants and is open to the public, whether or not W3C members.
