Hello all,

As I'm sure you are aware the SDWIG is planning to increase activity in the near future and recharter to become a working group once again. (More details on this week's SDWIG Monthly call)

One of the planned items of work is a note on the "Responsible use of spatial", looking to illustrate from a practical point of view some of the ethic issues specific to the use of geospatial tools and information within the context of sharing personal location data.

While there is already a broad discussion of ethics on the web including the W3C TAG Ethical Web Principles<https://www.w3.org/2001/tag/doc/ethical-web-principles-20191204> there are I believe characteristics of spatial data sharing that need particular care.

The aim is not to produce an academic on conceptual discussion, rather a document of value to application and system developers and to individuals posting personal data with geocoding info; photos, video & other social media etc.

I have volunteered to take on the editorial role but would appreciate help in doing so, please get in touch if you would like to be a joint editor.. and of course we welcome participation from as many people as possible.

I aim to have a kick off telecom on 30th July to discuss scope, logistics and timescales - 09:00-1000 BST / 08:00-09:00 UTC <https://meet.google.com/szc-qunn-pqo>

Please let me know if you can make it and I will send a personal invitation or if you have any questions...

Ed
