Dear colleagues, As mentioned during the SDWIG f2f meeting in Leuven [1], the Dataset Exchange Working Group (DXWG) has released on 28 May 2019 the final draft of the revised version of the Data Catalog vocabulary (DCAT): https://www.w3.org/TR/vocab-dcat-2/ This new version includes a number of extensions, some of which are relevant to spatial (meta)data. In particular: 1. The scope of DCAT has been extended to include data services / APIs as "first-class citizens" 2. New properties and classes have been added to cover spatio-temporal aspects - more precisely: 2.a spatial/temporal resolution, spatial/temporal coverage 2.b specification of spatial coverage via geometries - including bounding boxes, and centroids 2.c specification of start/end of a temporal interval On behalf of DXWG, I would like to thank you for the comments you already provided on point (1) [2] and (2.a) [3], and I kindly ask your review on the solutions adopted to address points (2.b) and (2.c). The relevant classes and properties are the following: - For 2.b, class dct:Location, and properties locn:geometry, dcat:bbox, dcat:centroid, w3cgeo:lat, w3cgeo:long, w3cgeo:alt - see: https://w3c.github.io/dxwg/dcat/#Class:Location . - For 2.c, class dct:PeriodOfTime, and properties dcat:startDate, dcat:endDate, time:hasBeginning, time:hasEnd - see: https://w3c.github.io/dxwg/dcat/#Class:Period_of_Time Thanks in advance for your feedback! Andrea, on behalf of DXWG PS: Comments can be contributed either via the DXWG mailing list (public-dxwg-comments@w3.org) or the GitHub issue tracker (https://github.com/w3c/dxwg/issues/). ---- [1] https://www.w3.org/2019/06/25-sdw-minutes.html#item03 [2] https://www.w3.org/Search/Mail/Public/search?type-index=public-dxwg-comments&index-type=t&keywords=portele&search=Search [3] https://github.com/w3c/sdw/issues/1123 ---- Andrea Perego, Ph.D. Scientific Project Officer European Commission DG JRC Directorate B - Growth and Innovation Unit B6 - Digital Economy Via E.
