Which is the default branch? main or gh-pages

In the old repo [w3c/sdw: Repository for the Spatial Data on the Web Working Group (github.com)](https://github.com/w3c/sdw), the default branch is gh-pages.

In the new repo [w3c/sdw-sosa-ssn: Repository of the Spatial Data on the Web Working Group for the SOSA/SSN vocabulary (github.com)](https://github.com/w3c/sdw-sosa-ssn) the default branch is main.
Is this deliberate, or an oversight?
