Dear members of the Spatial Data on the Web Working Group, I'm relaying the announcement to the Working Group's primarily public mailing list, to notify the group of the Charter extension. Best regards, Xueyuan -------- Forwarded Message -------- Subject: Spatial Data on the Web Working Group Charter Extended; Proposed Charter for the Spatial Data on the Web Interest Group (Call for Review) Date: Mon, 17 Jul 2017 16:55:46 +0800 From: Xueyuan <xueyuan@w3.org> To: w3c-ac-members@w3.org CC: chairs@w3.org Dear Advisory Committee Representative, Chairs, This is both a notification that the Spatial Data on the Web Working Group charter [1] is hereby extended until 30 September 2017 and a Call for Review of a proposed charter for the Spatial Data on the Web Interest Group, set to replace the Working Group once it has closed: https://w3c.github.io/sdw/jwoc/ [...] The Spatial Data on the Web Working Group has issued the Time Ontology in OWL Candidate Recommendation [2] in June 2017 and the Semantic Sensor Network Ontology Candidate Recommendation [3] in July 2017, and requested additional time to finalize implementation reports for these specifications and meet CR exit criteria before requesting Proposed Recommendation. The group, a joint collaboration between W3C and the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC), will also publish a final version of its Spatial Data on the Web Best Practices [4] document following an internal review at OGC. No substantive changes are expected in any of these documents. More information about the Spatial Data on the Web Working Group can be found on its home page [5]. The new Spatial Data on the Web Interest Group is to succeed the Spatial Data on the Web Working Group after the WG's closure, to: - develop and maintain vocabularies and best practices that encourage better sharing of spatial data on the Web; - identify areas where standards should be developed jointly by both W3C and OGC. The Spatial Data on the Web IG is scoped to realize the W3C side of the Joint W3C/OGC Organizing Committee (JWOC). The proposed Team effort for this group is 0.1 FTE. If you have any questions or need further information, please contact Francois Daoust, Working Group Staff Contact and proposed Interest Group Staff Contact, at fd@w3.org. The Working Group charter extension follows section 6.2.5 of the W3C Process Document: http://www.w3.org/2014/Process-20140801/#charter-extension The Interest Group charter review follows section 5 of the W3C Process Document: https://www.w3.org/2017/Process-20170301/#GAGeneral Thank you, For Tim Berners-Lee, W3C Director, Wendy Seltzer, Strategy Lead, and Francois Daoust, W3C Staff Contact; Xueyuan Jia, W3C Marketing & Communications [1] https://www.w3.org/2015/spatial/charter [2] https://www.w3.org/TR/2017/CR-owl-time-20170606/ [3] https://www.w3.org/TR/2017/CR-vocab-ssn-20170711/ [4] https://www.w3.org/TR/sdw-bp/ [5] https://www.w3.org/2015/spatial/wiki/Main_Page
