Re: Regarding "Actuation" and "Actuator" conceptual models for IoT and its mapping to SOSA

Hi Sergio,

Thanks for your feedback and the set of resources you are pointing us to!

I have created a new issue https://www.w3.org/2015/spatial/track/issues/187 on our issue tracker that we will talk about in our meeting this week. We will get back to you on decisions, and if necessary actions that arise from your feedback.

Kind regards,
Armin

Dear all:

Currently, I'm working on the "BCI Ontology" [1], an ontology for Brain-Computer Interaction activities, which is aligned to SSN.
We are expanding its domain to include the conceptual models for Actuation and Actuator.
We are following closely the effort done by the IoT community: "IoT-O" [2],[3].

As described in section 3 of [2], the authors introduced an ontology for actuators, called SAN [4]. The authors proposed the Action-Actuator-Effect (AAE) design pattern, inspired from the SSO design pattern (SSN). Figure 2 of [2] depicts the proposed structure for AAE inspired on SSO.

I was wondering how SOSA [5] has defined the structure for the correspondent AAE design pattern defined for the IoT domain:
- Has SOSA defined its own design pattern for Actuation and Actuator conceptual models (similar to AAE)?
- Has SOSA considered the proposed SAN ontology from the IoT community?
- If so, how does SOSA map to SAN (and, therefore, to the proposed AAE design pattern)?

Thank you very much for your feedback.
