Please look carefully at how Web IDL operations are currently defined and note that they do not pass through the "this" value to the underlying spec in the static case right now. Sounds like we should change that, especially as we formalize this better per https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=27301 -Boris
