Hi (again) Kevin, I would suggest that the potentialAction <https://schema.org/potentialAction> associated with a social group, like a Facebook Group or a Meetup group would be a JoinAction <https://schema.org/JoinAction> type. The event property, also found in the JoinAction definition, is optional like all properties in Schema.org. The events associated with group membership should be defined separately in their own right. ~Richard.
