aside to other projects, i have been interested in developing a 3d (asset) encyclopedia; and in a follow-up discussion today, was led to considered the means of an ontology to describe assets which in-turn lead to a search, and I couldn't find the elements in schemaorg. I found http://vidont.org/the-3d-modeling-ontology/ As noted in the discussion "there are differences in aesthetics, file formats, poly count, texturing and materials, etc.", understanding that 3d models of 'things' are produced via various means for various purposes (outputs). Whether it be 3d scanning museum artifacts or producing models for use in web, game-engine for various publishing outputs, film, 3d printing or other utility; Perhaps in future 3d models could be found in much the same way as images in search. In-turn as 'naturalised interfaces' develop, this may play a role in the augmentation of the web. I'm not sure how much time i have to devote to the development of it, if indeed it hasn't been done already, felt it was important to FYI in any-case. Tim.H.
