Hi all in the Schema Bib Extend Group <https://www.w3.org/community/schemabibex/>. In one of our sister groups - Schema Architypes <https://www.w3.org/community/architypes/>, we are working on a proposal to extend the Schema.org vocabulary to support the description of archives and their contents. As part of this proposal we have been looking at a property to describe ‘extent’ as laid out here < https://www.w3.org/community/architypes/wiki/Extent_proposal>. A long while back we in the Bibextend group discussed extent but could not identify a consistent approach to its use. The Archive proposal makes use of QuantitativeValue <http://schema.org/QuantitativeValue> to aid the detailed description of some of the terms found in extent whilst retaining Text as a value as a fall back for when such detail is not extractable from source metadata. As there is significant overlap on the subject of extent between libraries & archives, I am asking this group to also consider this part of the archives proposal for applicability to bibliographic resources. I am suggesting that the proposed materialExtent property has it’s domain extended to include CreativeWork. Comments please. ~Richard.
