RE: Welcome & Introductions

Hi Everybody,

I do support Phil to lead this group on W3C schema course extension.

So here my +1 on this.

Regarding introductions, etc. I am Eva Méndez I hold a pHD in Library and
Information Sciences and I am an associate professor at the University
Carlos III of Madrid. I have been researching on metadata and semantic web
for the last 15 years, very close to DCMI Community where I am a member of
the AB. So my interest in schema.org is clear. But also, I am deputy
vice-rector for Strategy and Digital Education in my University and I have
been dealing with all the digital education initiatives (OCW, MOOCs in edX,
but also SPOCs, Khan Academy, etc.) so my interest on the extension for
courses it is also justified. I hope to have a bit of time to contribute to
this group.

Best

               Eva

Phil, thank you for taking a leadership role with the W3C schema course
extension community group!

Hi everyone. I’m Jeanne Kitchens, Associate Director at the Southern
Illinois University Center for Workforce Development. We’ve been developing
web apps for state and federal projects since 2005. The SIUC CWD is
currently working on a few public and open projects that rely on open
metadata infrastructure. For example, we’re currently working with Illinois
Open Educational Resources (IOER) <http://ioer.ilsharedlearning.org/> using
LRMI and publishing to the Learning Registry and Credential Transparency
Initiative (CTI) <http://www.credreg.net/> working with a Technical
Advisory Committee (TAC) now on metadata, credential registry, and
credential directory app design.

I’m looking forward to working with this community. With complementary work
recently completed and underway, the timing seems perfect!

Sincerely, Jeanne Kitchens
