Hi, All! I'm Mikko Rinne, preparing my PhD at the Computer Science and Engineering Department of Aalto University in Espoo, Finland. My background is in computer science, but in between I did 15 years of cellular research and standardisation primarily on WCDMA, HSPA and LTE. For the past two years I have been looking into event processing using semantic web technologies. Our group has been working on a platform called INSTANS, where groups of SPARQL Queries and Update rules are translated into a Rete-like structure, creating event processing applications processing RDF-format event data. Our approach is primarily asynchronous, driven by incoming events. I'm especially interested in developing definitions that can elevate RDF stream processing to handle event processing tasks, while improving compatibility and comparability between tools.
