RE: A couple of resources on language tags

This document is also useful, and it refers to the primary sources from IETF and IANA:

Subject: A couple of resources on language tags

We had a bit of a discussion on the call today around language tags for ancient languages. I found this page as a possible resource: Symbol Codes | Language Tags (psu.edu)<https://nam10.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fsites.psu.edu%2Fsymbolcodes%2Fweb%2Flangtag%2F%23langcode&data=04%7C01%7Cjjwhite%40ets.org%7C4dbdda174c6141552e0b08da12579c0c%7C0ba6e9b760b34fae92f37e6ddd9e9b65%7C0%7C0%7C637842464746782518%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000&sdata=0IQ1pwEJ0UpsHSp6YGlJZI0NgXrAb0HqUR8P%2FrMA49Y%3D&reserved=0> It includes a brief section on some representative ancient languages. It also links to some larger code list, although those links appear to be broken.

Another quick reference location is Template:Lang - Wikipedia<https://nam10.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fen.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2FTemplate%3ALang%23Private-use_language_tags&data=04%7C01%7Cjjwhite%40ets.org%7C4dbdda174c6141552e0b08da12579c0c%7C0ba6e9b760b34fae92f37e6ddd9e9b65%7C0%7C0%7C637842464746782518%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000&sdata=uJIjKAk5MlD4C6m0nES0HmoQp14SNgS8lzces6KOelw%3D&reserved=0>, which mentions Private use language tags for many ancient languages such an Koine Greek.

There's also a huge spec documents on the IETF website BCP 47 - Tags for Identifying Languages (ietf.org)<https://nam10.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Ftools.ietf.org%2Fsearch%2Fbcp47&data=04%7C01%7Cjjwhite%40ets.org%7C4dbdda174c6141552e0b08da12579c0c%7C0ba6e9b760b34fae92f37e6ddd9e9b65%7C0%7C0%7C637842464746782518%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000&sdata=IQKALoae7f7T%2BS413uCZJwF9yuIrhoQSxbi2lXGK734%3D&reserved=0>

Thought I would mention these resources in case anyone want to delve into them.
