Feedback on action items ahead of today's meeting

To the RQTF

Following up on the aciton items, I"ve reviewed all the documents as requested. It's all looking really good, great work to Josh, Jason and Janina for getting it all to this point.

Here's some feedback from me:

  1. Inclusive design of XR and immersive Web environments at XAUR draft: https://raw.githack.com/w3c/apa/XAUR/xaur/index.html

I'm still concerned about how the definitions for XR, VR and AR are presented. Given the document is about XR, it takes some time to actually get to the bit that explains what XR is.

To address this, I'd propose that the definitions are restructured so that the focus is on defining CR, but within that other aspects are defined so the reader gets the immediate relevance of V R and AR.

For example:

DEFINITIONS

What does the term 'XR' mean?
This document uses the acronym XR to refer to the spectrum of hardware, applications, and techniques used for technologies primarily associated with:

a) Virtual Reality (VR): definitions vary but converge on the notion of immersive computer mediated experiences. They involve interaction with objects, people and environments using a range of controls. These experiences are often multi-sensory and may be used for educational, therapeutic or entertainment purposes.
b) Augmented Reality(AR): definitions vary but converge on the notion of computer mediated interactions involving overlays on the real world. These may be informational, or interactive depending on the application.

Examples include, but are not limited to:
... <continue with XR examples>

This approach provides an immediate definition of XR rather than having to wade through definitions of VR and AR before it's explained why VR and AR need to be defined.

The second question I had is regarding audio description: I can't see any reference to it in the current document, but the presence of audio description for accessibility and its positioning in an XR environment will be significant as an accessibility feature. Apologies if it's there and I've missed it.

  1. RTC review: all looks great to me, no feedback on this one.

Scott.
