Subject: XR Accessibility - a suggested approach from this week's meeting

Dear colleagues,

At this week’s meeting, a suggestion was put forward to advance our work on XR (including virtual and augmented reality) accessibility, based on our previous survey of the relevant literature. The central idea is to identify the distinctive, accessibility-relevant features of XR applications and environments, then to orient our analysis of use cases and user requirements around these findings. This would allow us to avoid duplicating requirements that are addressed elsewhere, for example in existing accessibility guidance, while focusing on the specific characteristics that make XR applications different from other user interface types.

We plan to discuss this approach at next week’s meeting. Meanwhile, comments on the mailing list are always welcome.
