Paul, Thank you for your reply. I won't be in the Gartner summit and EPTS meeting, I regret it. I'm totally in favor of a dialect in the event space, certainly first with the event-condition-action, natural extension of production rules. We'll test PRD's reusability and refactorabiity. No, CEP is not just hype, there are real business requirements and a real market. But currently, there are so much hope and expectations on CEP in terms of scalability, latency and algorithms, that there is still a large part of hype. Let's reserve this discussion for the face-to-face meeting. Cheers, Changhai ________________________________ From: Paul Vincent [mailto:pvincent@tibco.com] Sent: jeudi 11 septembre 2008 15:43 To: Changhai Ke Cc: public-rif-wg@w3.org Subject: CEP RIF <-- New member in the group Importance: Low Changhai - good to see you participating in RIF. Just a comment: I suspect your interest in CEP is not because you believe it is just "hype" ! I would expect, if RIF PRD is in any way successful (e.g. supported by ILOG/IBM or Fair Isaac), that an event-rule dialect based on PRD would be considered next year or the year after. We will see if there is any other (commercial) interest for this at the EPTS <http://www.ep-ts.com/content/view/60/9/> meeting standards discussion <http://www.citt-online.com/include/4th%20event%20processing%20symopsium %20-%20tentative%20program.pdf> next week (+ maybe see you there). I'm mostly interested by the PRD part in RIF, and I hope to find the time and passion to participate and contribute. I have been developing rule engines in ILOG with the RETE algorithm for many years. The evolution has brought me to other execution algorithms: ruleflow/workflow engines, sequential rule algorithms, etc. Recently, I have followed the hype and come to the world of CEP, as many of you. Below is my LinkedIn profile: http://www.linkedin.com/profile?viewProfile=&key=10779094&trk=tab_pro I look to work with you. Regards, Changhai Ke
