Outcomes from 23 Jan RIF telecon

First of all, please don't forget to fill out the F2F5 questionnaire WHETHER YOU ARE
PLANNING TO ATTEND OR NOT [http://www.w3.org/2002/09/wbs/38457/f2f5reg/]. It is
important that we get a firm sense of who is NOT going as well as who is going to
properly plan for it.

We made some concrete steps today towards getting the 1st working draft of the CORE
spec out, as well as closing a major issue:

1) ISSUE-12: Based more or less on my last email message
[http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-rif-wg/2007Jan/0098.html], the WG
resolved to drop Issue-12. This means that we will make no definite statement one
way or the other about whether RIF will specify a standard SW rule language.

2) UCR: All issues and actions for the UCR 3rd WD are complete and we expect a draft
by next week.

3) RAF: The RIFRAF work has been on hold for a few weeks since we've needed telecon
bandwidth for discussing the CORE. Axel and Leora have agreed that we will start
that work up again in email immediately (following Axel's emails), and begin
discussing it again after F2F5. This will be the time frame for all RIFRAF actions.

4) CORE: The WG made the following resolutions today:
1st CORE WD will not include constraints, slots, builtins
1st CORE WD will include the following datatypes: string, int, decimal, datetime

Note that of course these decisions were considered appropriate to release a 1st CORE
WD (working draft), not final decisions about the CORE itself.

Next week we'll be discussing the XML syntax and OWL/RDF compatibility for the 1st
WD, as well as the abstract syntax.
