Principal, Attending F2F (I serve as an invited expert now. University of Aberdeen will join in Jan 2006) > -- a bio summarizing experience you have that's relevant to the > work of this group I am a lecturer in the Department of Computing Science at the University of Aberdeen. My main research interests lie in knowledge representation, ontologies and the Web. I did my PhD in the University of Manchester with Prof Ian Horrocks on the topic "Description Logics: Reasoning Support for the Semantic Web". My thesis is available online [1]. Before moving to Aberdeen, I was a PostDoc researcher in the University of Manchester, coordinating the "Semantic Web Language Extension" work package in the Knowledge Web project [2], in which we investigate various extensions of OWL DL, including datatypes, horn rules, fuzziness and metamodeling. I am a co-author of both RDFS(FA), a sub-language of RDF(S) with layered metamodeling architecture, and OWL-Eu, which extends OWL DL with user-defined datatypes. I was invited to review the Semantic and Abstract Syntax [3] of the OWL Web ontology language. In the W3C Semantic Web Best Practices and Deployment Working Group, I co-coordinate both the Software Engineering and the Multimedia Annotation Task Forces. I am a member of the RuleML steering committee and am co-chairing the Fuzzy RuleML Technical Group [4]. > -- as much contact info as you care to share on this public list Dr. Jeff Z.
