Dear all Here is a brief introduction of myself: - Contact Info Image, Video and Multimedia Systems Laboratory Institute of Communication and Computer Systems National Technical University of Athens Zographou Campus, 15780, Athens, Greece Tel: +30-210-7723040 Fax: +30-210-7722492 e-mail: gstam@softlab.ntua.gr www.image.ntua.gr/~gstam - Role Principal - Regrets to first f2f (Vassilis Tzouvaras who is alternate will represent IVML-NTUA in the first f2f) - Short Bio I studied electronic and computer engineering in National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). In 1998, I received my PhD in the area of reasoning under uncertainty and neural learning. Now, I am a research assistant professor of NTUA, leading the Knowledge Technologies Group of Image, Video and Multimedia Systems Laboratory. I am a member of the Steering Committee of RuleML, also co-chairing the Fuzzy RuleML Technical Group. I represent NTUA in W3C Advisory Committee, being also a member of the SWBPD Working Group and co-chairing the Multimedia Annotation on the Semantic Web Task Force. Our group is participating in national and European projects (e.g. Knowledge Web, aceMedia, MUSCLE, K-space, X-media) in the area of knowledge representation, reasoning and its industrial applications. We have a strong interest in theoretical and practical results of the rule standardisation process. Concluding, maybe you remember me asking for the uncertainty extension during the RIF charter preparation phase. But I am not here only for this. We also have applications and work with certain data. - What I expect to get out of this WG: A widely accepted, theoretically sound and ready for use in real applications, rule language standard, produced by a peaceful and co-operative work of most people that has excellence in the area. Sounds optimistic? :-) - What I hope/expect to contribute: I would like to actively contribute in both phases. Concerning the first deliverable "Use Cases and Requirements", my main interest is in providing usecases, requirements and discussion on further extensions of the core rule language, but I also volunteer to help in other issues if it is needed. Regards, Giorgos
