comments from NRC IRAP W. Langley on RIF development

Hi

I am directly involved in supporting leading edge IT in industry through www.nrc.ca/irap and in this context I have been exposed to the excellent work going on at NRC IIT and internationally with leadership from Harold Boley and others directly involved in advancing these methods.

The concept behind RIF and generally behind the RuleML initiative within the context of realizing a viable Semantic Web has led to significant business opportunities among the groups I am involved with who have seen the importance of the development to the IT industry. There are groups I am supporting that are working toward practical implementations realizing real world solutions in the areas of eLearning, ehealth, knowledge management and knowledge extraction, process mining, and in security and anti-criminal applications. We have seen particular take-up in NB, NS, Ont and Alberta in this respect in the Canadian context.

The basic research that has been going on that I have been exposed to through Harold Boley has led to clear advancement in Science and nice business opportunities for small technology oriented companies seeking to advance elegant solutions to an international market place

This is great work

Thanks

William Langley
