Hello, W3C Advisory Committee Representatives received a proposal to republish the following W3C Recommendation as a Superseded Recommendation: Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0 W3C Recommendation 5 May 1999 https://www.w3.org/TR/1999/WAI-WEBCONTENT-19990505/ WCAG 1.0 was published in 1999, and written for the limited set of Web technologies available at the time. WCAG 2.0 was published in 2008, and was designed to be technology-neutral and more precisely testable. WCAG 2.1, published in 2018, expands provisions for mobile, cognitive and low vision, and is the version W3C currently recommends using to make web content, websites, and web applications accessible for people with disabilities. Later versions will be available at the "latest version" link near the top of the document. The following text is proposed to be added to the Status of This Document: This specification is a Superseded Recommendation. A newer specification, available from the "latest version" link, is recommended for new adoptions in place of this specification. The W3C wishes to communicate clearly the status of WCAG 1.0 to the Web community. As part of ensuring that the community is aware of this proposal, W3C invites public comments on the public-review-announce@w3.org mailing list [1] through 04:59 UTC/GMT on 2020-12-12 (23:59, Boston time on 2020-12-11). If you work for a W3C Member <https://www.w3.org/Consortium/Member/List>, please coordinate your comments with your Advisory Committee Representative. For example, you may wish to make public comments and have your Advisory Committee Representative refer to it from his or her formal review comments. This Call for Review follows section 6.2.12.4 "Declaring a W3C Recommendation Rescinded, Obsolete or Superseded" of the W3C Process Document: https://www.w3.org/2020/Process-20200915/#deactivation and section 6.1.2.1 "Wide Review" of the W3C Process Document: https://www.w3.org/2020/Process-20200915/#wide-review Thank you, For Tim Berners-Lee, W3C Director, Philippe Le Hegaret, Project Management Lead, Judy Brewer, WAI Director, and Michael Cooper, Accessibility Guidelines WG Team Contact; Xueyuan Jia, W3C Marketing & Communications [1] https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-review-announce/
