The CSS WG has published a First Public Working Draft of the CSS Containment Module Level 1 https://www.w3.org/TR/css-contain-1/ This CSS module describes the contain property, which indicates that the element’s subtree is independent of the rest of the page. This enables heavy optimizations by user agents when used well. Even though this is only the First Public Working Draft, the specification has spent quite some time maturing as an Editor Draft already, and is fairly stable. Detailed reviews and experiments by implementers are welcome, as we may try to move this forward to CR before too long. Please review the draft, and send any comments to this mailing list, <www-style@w3.org>, prefixed with [css-contain] (as I did on this message) or (preferably) file them in the GitHub repository at https://github.com/w3c/csswg-drafts/issues For the CSS WG, —Florian
