Is there anywhere we can go to read more on how this would “prevent or side-track political decisions in this area in the near future, before those decisions are made”? The W3C process is one of consensus building across a very large (international) array of actors, resulting in a recommendation (voluntary standard). I am struggling to understand the exact impact on policy and politics. Is this a matter of having widespread commercial adoption independently of upcoming policy decisions?
